SIPRA 

History

The SIPRAs are a sub-division of the Gill Jats. The tribe has also given its name to the famous battlefield of Sobraon. They are entirely Muslim, having converted to Islam in the 16th century

Location

The tribe is chiefly found along the banks of Chenab and Jhelum River, in Gujrat, Rahim Yar Khan, Ahmed Pur East, Karachi, Sargodha and Layyah Districts, and are specially numerous in Jhang  District. The Sipra Jats have no connection with the surname Sapru, which is, in fact, a Kashmiri Pundit surname. Mian Muhammad Azam Sipra was the landlord of Miana Hazara.
